CAMPUS OVERVIEW
Our three hundred acre campus dates from the 17th century when much of the estate of Roger Wellminster, a successful merchant turned farmer, was willed to his brother upon his death. His brother, Rev. Hummel Wellminster, opened Wellminster Academy to fifty young men of families of the surrounding villages. He offered them religious training, as well as instruction in Philosophy, Geography and Agriculture. Our campus has grown, thanks to the careful stewardship of friends of the school, to include three dormitories as well as the following landmarks:
1. The Hunter Spivey Library of 30,000 volumes
2. The Francis Bell Performing Arts Center
3. The Student Commons complex and Dining Hall
4. The Franklin Art Center and Gallery
5. The Alumni Lounge
6. Updated Turk Athletic Facility anchored by basketball and tennis courts, Olympic size pool, indoor track and fitness center
Graceful Faculty homes are within comfortable distance of the campus, and the Drake Chapel is the center of religious life for students of all faith communities.
